WayWORD 2022 kicked off in-person events with a three day long jam in Sunnybank Park. We invited everyone in Aberdeen to take part and learn how to use spraypaint to create colourful designs.

We met over 200 people and had to repaint the wall endless times over the three days to make more room for new work. We loved bringing artists and the public together to learn from each other.

One of the best things to come out of this was budding artist Ivan, who is now a regular at graff jams in Aberdeen and loves to paint. This was his first ever piece!

Craig Barrowman joined us from Gray’s School of Art with their ‘Mobile Art School’ to cut stencils for workshop participants – like the Orca whale above.

It was really busy and we worked fast to teach each new artist and create a mini-team of helpers.
This event was the first event of WayWORD 2022 and was accompanied by a digital love wall, where people could post their art and messages of love online. The initial idea was proposed by WayWORD committee member Samira and supported by Annie, Katia and Mabel who were also on the committee.
