We were invited by Cornhill Community Association to work with Cornhill Primary School P7s on decorating two shipping containers for their new community garden.
We joined a P7 class for an afternoon of drawing and sketching, coming up with ideas for how the park could reflect the community and create a positive environment.

Sketches made during the workshop by the pupils and Kirsty
The community garden sits outside the school playground and has benches and planters which the community were really proud of. We spoke to so many people while painting both containers who were excited to use this space to socialise, enjoy nature, and play games.

Our digital sketches vs final paint

We spent two half days painting the containers. Bad weather slowed us down and it was dark by the time we finished as winter nights eat in to our painting time! We adapted the sketches as we went, to work with the texture of the containers and the colour palette of the space.
