We joined the Craigielea Family Fun days in Easter and Summer for a workshop and paint day.

We started with a taster session on the Easter fun day – a two hour scribble session with lots of experimentation from the attendees. Families ranging in age from 7 and up, with parents, grandparents and professionals all taking part. Two hours transformed the wall in to a colourful template, practising the fundamental skills for painting with spray-paint.
After a few months break we returned for the Summer Fun Day. We had left some blank sketch sheets behind for the young people to develop the final design. We gathered in their ideas with a list of characters to include and set to work designing the wall.

It all started with a sketch outline of the letters….
Then one by one people came to claim a letter.

Eventually, after a fluffy of help from young people, we had a finished piece!
Our initial design forgot the exclamation mark (there is always something) but luckily one of the young people really took to the cans and was able to come up with a new design on the spot!

We had brought some character sheets with cartoons we knew were popular at Craigielea, and the execution was perfect!
Spongebob, Patrick and Plankton were joined by Bluey, Mario and the Minions!

We even brought back Stitch, who had been painted by one of the parents on the Easter fun day who was back to bring him to life again, and added Mario and Among Us.

This wall was so colourful and the young people were so quick to learn. We really love the vibe this design developed, with so many unique elements. We hope this has inspired you too!
