Club 10

Our recent workshop with the Denis Law Trust’s Club 10 group was nothing short of inspiring. Club 10 is a fantastic initiative supporting young people and their families affected by incarceration, providing them with opportunities for growth, connection, and creativity. We were beyond excited to team up with them for an evening of spray painting, sticker-making, and collaborative artistic expression.

The workshop took place at RGU (Robert Gordon University) in Aberdeen, where we gathered with a vibrant group of young people and their families. We set up our outdoor spray-painting stations and laid out a variety of materials for the sticker-making activity while the group had their pizza and pop!

We kicked off the session by teaching the group how to create their very own stickers using paint pens and paint sticks (the paint sticks were a hit with the younger ones of the group, they’re very tactile!). This part of the workshop was all about giving everyone a chance to express their personality and creativity in a fun, accessible way. The kids absolutely loved designing their stickers—from funky shapes to vibrant colors, every sticker was unique. After making their own, we had a sticker exchange, where each participant swapped their creations with others. It was such a great way for them to connect, share their work, and get a glimpse into each other’s artistic perspectives.

There was so much excitement as everyone exchanged their stickers, and the conversations and laughs that followed made the experience even more meaningful. As this took place, we began to take the young folk out in groups of four or five and the energy shifted into high gear. Three large canvases were set up, and the kids jumped right in, spray-painting and writing words to create collaborative artwork. There was something truly special about seeing everyone come together and contribute to a bigger picture. It was clear that they were all in sync—whether they were adding splashes of color, designing intricate characters, or writing words that reflected their thoughts and feelings.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing the kids come up with their own characters. From quirky carrots to imaginative creatures, their creativity was boundless. It was incredible to witness how the group embraced the freedom to create and collaborate, using art as a way to communicate and bond.

The finishing details were to include the letters for CLUB TEN on the canvases in hollow letters to let the characters be the centerpiece.

The finished canvases were full of life, energy, and stories. Each stroke of paint was a reflection of the fun, the teamwork, and the individual creativity that made this workshop so memorable.

We’re incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the Club 10 group and to be a part of their journey. Thank you to the Denis Law Trust for partnering with us on another amazing project.
