A huge new installation by Charlie Kelman, assisted by Peter Thomson.
A meeting with John and Bill from Torry Heritage Group inspired the largest mural in the Tracing Torry Trail.
John brought a book with lots of photos of Old Torry. He and Bill were keen to tell us about the history of the area around 142 Sinclair Road as well as about the fishing industry.
One photo stood out to Charlie – three fishermen on the shore preparing their lines and sorting their catch.

The first stage in approaching such a big mural was to hire a boom lift and project the image onto the wall at night. This helped the artists get the right size and scale for the wall.

Then, during the daytime, the artists tackled the landscape, details, and the figures at the forefront of the picture.

We are thankful to Jordan Fentie and Neil Fentie at Subsea Pressure Control for letting us paint this wall and include it in the trail.
